Psychotherapy

I see therapy as a collaboration which can bring you new perspectives and freedom from long-held patterns. My aim is to provide the acceptance and compassion that you may be struggling to give to yourself, allowing you to explore your inner landscape. A true therapeutic relationship is unique because it goes beyond all the usual human judgements and allows interaction on a completely different level.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”
Rumi

I am trained in Integrative Psychotherapy and  Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) which recognises how the hurt and protective parts of our psyche influence us daily. IFS is also a model which reflects my belief that we have within us the necessary qualities which bring healing and change.
As well as private practice, my experience includes counselling in a university, in two north-west charities with adults, and as a therapist with young people for Barnardo’s, YPAS, and in secondary school settings.  I am a member of the BACP having qualified in integrative psychotherapy at postgraduate level, training which allows me to adapt my practice to suit the needs of the individual. I have a particular interest in the links between creativity and wellbeing and run workshops in this field.

Creative Therapy

You may find that using metaphor,  working with images, and writing intuitively, could assist the therapeutic process for you.

No creative expertise is needed, just an openness to creative suggestions, and some basic materials.

For some people, expression and exploration through drawing or writing is often easier than talking alone, and can be particularly beneficial when addressing trauma.

When you contact me to inquire about therapy we can discuss if you think creative therapy is something you would like to try.
